Learn the ancient earthly material practice

Scugog Arts

Service Description

Join local artist and educator Courtney Dookwah for an immersive workshop on egg tempera, a timeless art form that reconnects you with nature and deepens your appreciation for the materials and processes involved in making art. In this workshop, you will work with egg yolk, hand-ground pigments, and linen wood surfaces. It is designed for anyone who enjoys drawing and painting. You will begin with exploratory drawing techniques and then progress to the patient, layered painting process favored by Renaissance masters. Each participant will receive a high-quality artist kit and learn how to mix vibrant colors while working on expertly crafted wood, linen, chalk, and gesso panels. Whether you are an emerging artist or have years of experience, you will discover the joy of slow, mindful creativity and bring your personal stories to life with stunning, luminous results.
